Customers

The CREDC has two groups of customers:  external and internal.  Our external customers, the primary focus of our activities, are businesses, or their representatives, evaluating an expansion of existing operations or a new location in Clark County that creates family wage income jobs.  This class of customer includes existing Clark County businesses and prospective businesses, located regional, national or international.  Our service will focus on those firms whose investment, due to its size or type, will have a significant impact on the economy.  These ‘Critical Mass’ firms will be medium to large companies or technology/ business sectors with a potential for growth.

Our internal customers include the membership of the CREDC, local and state government and those entities with whom we maintain contractual relationships.

The over arching customer of the CREDC is the community at large that benefits from our efforts to create a prosperous regional economy.

Products and Services

The CREDC is a consulting and public relations firm.  The organization provides consulting, information and relationship management services on behalf of our clients.  We supply timely, accurate and reliable information to support our client’s investment decisions.  Examples of such services include site location and analysis, labor market information, economic data acquisition, customer specified research and demographics.  The CREDC coordinates complex permit processes on behalf of our customers.  We broker public and private relationships and provide public relations services. The CREDC provides access to Industrial Development Bond Financing.

The CREDC provides similar services on behalf of our internal customers.  In addition, the CREDC evaluates the adequacy of available industrial lands, infrastructure and other public goods necessary to support a vibrant economy.  We are an ‘issue champion’.  The CREDC advocates for public policy initiatives that support continuing economic prosperity of the region.

Strategy

Business Expansion and Retention

Business expansion is the CREDC’s number one priority.  The CREDC will undertake an aggressive program to support the expansion and retention of the existing business base in the region.   We will proactively contact regional businesses to identify services we can provide to support their expansion or resolve issues that are barriers to their growth or continued operations.  The CREDC will broker services of other providers on behalf of our clients and advise on public relations as necessary.

The CREDC will provide a forum for local businesses to resolve common issues.

Business Recruitment

The organization will provide the vision and leadership to create the future economy of Clark County.  The CREDC will undertake a proactive external recruitment program to attract new business investment to the region that results in the creation of family wage jobs.  The CREDC will define and focus on ‘NexTech’ as our primary recruitment target. The recruitment target will be high technology manufacturers, their suppliers and firms employing technology, such as telecommunications, and corporate headquarters locations.  The target is ‘Critical Mass Firms’ that provide good wages and attract suppliers as secondary investments.  Resources will be allocated toward recruitment only when business expansion and retention efforts are fully implemented.

Advocacy

The Council will advocate on behalf of issues that are critical to the long-term economic performance of the region.  This activity will be conducted in close cooperation with other organizations.

Organizational Development

The CREDC will build a vibrant organization with a solid membership core representing the leading companies of Clark County and the region.  Creating a ‘working’ Board of Directors, by creating opportunities for participation and direct involvement, will increase the capacity of the organization.  The financial performance of the Council will be strengthened by streamlining the administration of the CREDC while simultaneously creating new sources of earned income.

The Council will gain a reputation as a leadership organization by producing results, and telling the story of economic development.

Summary

The CREDC has the opportunity to provide the critical leadership role in continuing the expansion and evolution of the regional economy for the benefit of the residents of Clark County.  It can only be successful by keeping one eye firmly fixed on the horizon with the other eye focused on the quality of its services to its customers.
